just a thought...
I just saw a commercial by the ASPCA, seeking donations. But the animals they showed... it made me cry. Starved puppies, beaten dogs, a neglected, bleeding cat.
How could people do things like that? How could we call ourselves a superior species when we are so cruel to animals who depend on us, trust us?
I don't know if there's much that makes me angrier.

tis a million-dollar question, and as such requires a long answer.
somewhere between noisome oblivion and primal sludge a creature emerged, only to take to the savanna on two legs.
having adapted to a life of scavenging, followed closely by imitating the great carnivores of times past, he acquired not only the skill of the hunt but the benefits of it as well
..cranial capacity increased along with a reduction in gut size. in time, he became..human.
now unlike the other creatures he inhabited the earth with, man possessed the unique ability to grow his own food.
with the advent of the agricultural revolution, he stopped the hunting and gathering lifestyle, only to assimilate the traits of man as we know now him; physically weak, morally depraved, lacking in compassion and other noble qualities.
man believes himself superior to other living creatures by virtue of his ability to use tools to his advantage and claims dominion over this world
..so there you have it, boys + girls, the history of man's delusion with his own mastery.
evolution does not always follow a linear path..this point of Darwin's is constantly glossed over hurriedly, as though the academicians in charge were afraid of pointing out a subtle, and yet potentially world-shattering view of man's destiny..
